Kids Corner Special. Ending Child Abuse
Have I ever mention Kids Corner? It's an absoultely fantastic radio program that airs on WXPN Monday-Thursday nights at 7pm. The host, Kathy O'Connell, engages children on a wide range of topics ranging including nature, science, books, movies, music, and more. Even without a kid in the house Jim and I have been known to listen in. I'm a big advocate of the program and highly recommend the program for anyone with kids and those of you who are kids at heart or just nerds like us.
But even if you don't like goofy songs, cute kids calling in to play the piano, or science trivia you need to tune in tonight. Tonight is an extra special program featuring a conversation with Tracey Thomasey from the Support Center for Child Advocates addressing child abuse. An important and difficult topic all parents and kids need to be able to discuss. You can also find downloads of the interview here.

Lil Nook
We have a little nook at one end of our hallway. We also happen to have a cute little bookshelf from our old apartment that fits perfectly. For probably close to a year the poor little thing was completely empty and sad looking. We have the large bookshelves in the living room already starving for more novels, and I hadn't come up with any good ideas on how to put the little red one to good use.
Finally, the anticipation of Baby Robinson sparked an idea. The nook is at the end of the hallway between the two extra bedrooms, which will hopefully be filled up with kiddos someday, so I started filling up the shelf with kids books.

The majority of the books I actually scored out of my dad's basement on our last trip to Ohio. So many of my childhood favorites including: a whole collection of Golden Books, The Berenstain Bears, and Teach Us, Amelia Bedelia. I've also been hitting up the local thrift store where children's books are only $0.25 and have scored some great collections of nursery rhymes, additional Golden Books, and James and the Giant Peach just to name a few.

The top holds a framed wedding invitation, a few of my favorite pictures from our honeymoon in Aruba, and a cool print that was actually the front of a wedding card we received.

Cute tees
Check out the cutest girls and boys t-shirts collection ever in the new mini Boden catalog. There are lots of bright fun colors, strips, and patterns and I love the variety of appliques ranging from flowers, birds, and puppies to monsters, skulls, and rock n roll.
For a cheaper option check out this DIY using cheap, discount t shirts and fabric scraps.

and because I have kiddos on my mind today....I loved this sweet little video

SpongeBob Square Pants
We're Ohio bound for Labor Day weekend. It's always kid mania with my niece and two nephews all having birthdays in the same week. It's hard to believe another year has gone by.
I meant to post this video last year but I was waiting around for a lesson in video editing from Jim and it just never happened. But, even though it's unedited and sideways I couldn't resists posting it. He's just the cutest kid and was so SpongeBob crazy last year.
My sister also handcrafted this amazing cake with frosting, food coloring, and a few marshmallows.

Photo Booth

When I was using PhotoBooth for my before/after haircut photos, I came across a bunch that my niece and nephew took when they were visiting last spring.
They thought it was the coolest thing.
Smart kids.

Dinosaurs.
I don't personally celebrate Valentine's Day. I think it's kind of stupid, plus I don't really wear a lot of fancy jewelry so there's really no point. Just because I don't need a reason to celebrate love doesn't mean it's not a good reason to remind the kiddos who their favorite aunt is....

Jevin goes to work.

I came across these pictures while I was sorting and packing stuff for the big move.
Some of my all time favorites. My nephew, Jevin, was about two and a half. I drove him to Marietta to my brother's job site so he could see where his Dad worked. He was soo excited during the whole drive. He was a chatter box for a kid his age, full of insight and plenty of commentary to keep any adult entertained for hours. And, as long as his surroundings were fairly bug and spider free, he wasn't the crying type either . Sometimes you'd even forgot how little he really was.
But that day, it made him seem so very tiny. Surrounded by all the big dozers and trucks. He suddenly became this little guy who was just too scared to let go of your hand. The type of thing that makes you love a kid. He finally got brave and climbed up into the cab with Rich. I think his little eyes still have a hint of anxiety.

Birthdays.
This is a busy week for birthdays in my family. All the kiddos in one week!! I love watching them grow up and develop their own little personalities. Being Aunt 'Chelle lets me spoil them without too much responsibility!
Wishing I could be there to celebrate with their happy smiles and messy ice cream covered faces.

Swim Lessons
The doggy paddle seems to be more natural for my 3 yr old niece than my 3yr old dog...

Hi Jacob!!

My friend Sarah emailed me today asking for the link to my blog so she could check out what I'd been up to. I'm sure she would've been sadly disappointed since prior to last week I just couldn't get into the groove of posting. I thought these adorable photos of my visit to see her little guy, Jacob, might make up for dissatisfaction in the content.
XoXo jake!!
