Charlotte

Jambo Juice

Last weekend I ventured off to Charlotte for a girls weekend. Details and a photo journal of the rainy weekend hopefully to follow (I'm finding it difficult to put blogging in my time schedule!) but on a separate note....

My flights home were delayed due to bad weather in Atlanta resulting in hours of sitting around the airport and finally arriving home around 3am and rising again at 6am for work Monday morning. The only good thing about the situation was the discovery of a Jambo Juice counter. I've been dreaming about it ever since....

Saturday Blues

I've been working for a long time, since I was responsible enough to watch someone elses kids and tall enough to reach to push a lawn mower. And, for as long as I can remember that included Saturdays. In fact "about one third of employed Americans work Saturday..."

Somewhere along the road I discovered the luxury of not working on Saturdays. It's not so much the getting up part...but there's something about ironing a shirt, putting on dress pants, heels, jewelry, making sure it all matching, and taking the time and effort into my hair that just feels wrong on a Saturday morning. Although it's only ever other week, it's definitely the biggest con of my new job. To make it even worse I have to work in Delaware, which means a 45 minute commute southbound on the Blue Route to Rt 95. I have some concerns that once summer hits this will be intertangled with weekend traffic to the Delaware beaches. I may have to start self-medicating at that point.

L.I.U.T.A

Jim and I are venturing off to Aruba in October courtesy of my favorite brother (thanks Rich!!) We haven't been on a real vacation since he shipped us off to Florida after chiropractic school graduation. The years following that vacation brought many surprises and struggles as we adapted to the truths of our careers, our job market, loan repayments, and the day to day of the "real world." We became masters at a thrifty life of Blockbuster, free admission day at the museum, rolled quarters, brown bag lunches, and Yahtzee. It really doesn't take much to make us happy!

2008 threw us into an upswing as we got engaged...and married and both started new jobs for a great company. Although we have no intentions of becoming frivolous or buying a McMansion I've taken it upon myself to declare the months up to our trip as a chance to let loose and have a little extra fun. What the heck...movie night on a Monday....the $12 wine instead of the $6.99 special...a weekend excursion to NYC for a play and shopping...maybe I'll even get brave and file the paperwork to official change my name!

We're "Livin' It Up Til Aruba.......LIUTA!!!"
